Today we tip our cap to some true Belgian ingenuity! 🇧🇪 🤔 💭 🍺 If we have every served you a Pauwel Kwak Ale before you definitely received it in its signature bulbous glassware! “This Belgian strong ale, brewed with three types of malt and sweetened with candi sugar, is a deep amber color with a spicy aroma reminiscent of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. The high alcohol content, 8%, is very apparent in the nose, but it melds well with the spiciness of the beer. The trademark Kwak glass, legend has it, owes to the popularity of this style of ale with carriage drivers who kept it, with its bulbous bottom, in a holster so that it could be filled and carried with them on their long journeys” We look forward to the day when we can serve you one again! 🍻

Pucker up for Wild Wednesday 😚! Today we feature the amazingly tart Bockor Cuvée des Jacobins Rouge Flemish Sour Ale! “ It was not that long ago when all beers where either fermented spontaneously or inoculated with the yeasty remnants of a previous batch. Those remnants would have contained signature species of wild yeast indigenous to the surrounding area. This, coupled with the use of porous wooden fermenters, harboring all manner of yeasts 🧪 looking to work their magic on the unfermented beer, would have also added layers of flavor. Today, these ales are produced by design rather than by accident and are rapidly becoming one of the most sought after styles. The Flanders Red Ale brewed by Bockor possesses a balance of malty undertones and bright, acidity, the result of careful aging. Almost wine-like in character, this style of ale is considered one of the most refreshing in the world 🌍 and is referred to by many as the “Burgundy of Belgium 🇧🇪 “ We can’t wait to be able to serve one to you again soon! 😃
