About Weltenburger Kloster

THE WORLD'S OLDEST MONASTERY BREWERY

Beer has been brewed on the legendary Danube Gorge in the heart of Bavaria Since 1050.

The Weltenburg Monastery brewery was founded by Iro-Scottish wandering monks in the 7th century and is now owned by the Benedictine Abbey of Weltenberg.

Quality Standards

From the stalk to the glass, nothing is left to chance at the Weltenburg monastery brewery. The oldest monastery brewery in the world is responsible for all steps of the brewing process - and that starts with the raw materials. We therefore only source ingredients from long-standing regional partners who can consistently meet the highest quality standards.

To achieve this, all of the raw materials used in Weltenburger beers are carefully analyzed in the brewery's own laboratory before processing. The quality of the beers is continuously checked at every stage during the brewing process, both sensorily and analytically. The high quality level of Weltenburger beers is proven by the many awards in national and international competitions.

A king of Doppelbocks is what we have here. Asam Bock is refined by I’m sure many many years of brewing and is a must for aficionados of the style or serious beer people. This is outstanding. An extremely delicious doppelbock with huge dark malt presence and just enough earthiness to keep it from being sweet. It hits all the right notes for the style including a killer mouthfeel that is silky smooth and soft, while staying very clean. Friends and connoisseurs particularly will appreciate it for its strong, sweet, very aromatic and persistent taste.

Helles
Wheat / Weiss / Wit
5.4% ABV
An interesting take on the style by one of the oldest breweries. Good looking hefeweizen with impressive head and great lacing. The nose is deep on the spicy side, on top of white bread. Taste of wheat malts, lemon, banana and yeast is delicious. Very smooth and refreshing in the mouth with a velvety finish. Hops are present and delicately balance the delicious cascade of wheat and fruity notes.

A Hefe on its own, with lots of character. Dynamic, playful and well balanced.
